My Power

I thought owning my power
would be draining:
that I should elbow through this life
no matter what.

This the power I found,
the power to be myself,
as vulnerable as I am,
as fragile and sensitive,
as weak as I am.

No one is going to tell me what to feel.
I have the right be sad,
I have the right to be fragile
and the right not to pretend.

If I cry, no one is going to compel me to laugh.
If I laugh, no one is going to tell me to cry.
I am.

This is my power, power to be,
power flowing so naturally
it does not feel like power.
I spread my wings
and rest in the air,
carried by the wind.
